Leaning Towers of 5th Grade

The 5th graders were challenged to build the tallest, free-standing tower using only 10 paper clips, 2 pieces of paper, and 1 pair of scissors.  They were grouped up with one student from each 5th grade class and given about 15 minutes to design their towers.  Only a few teams were successful in building a tower that stood on its own, however, every team learned the value of teamwork, cooperation, careful planning, and having a willingness to try new ideas.  We have many budding engineers in this 5th Grade!
