*Why is art important

*art is important so......

*when you get bored you can draw,sketch,feel free to express yourself in any art way

*but if you really want to be good PRACTICE

*you know what the 2 things that people will always say “Practice makes perfect”,and “use your mistakes”

*so sometimes art is relaxing but good for kids because they feel free to enjoy themselves

*so now we have learned ART is good for kids and that more KIDS should try ART and keep trying, never give UP!            

The 5th Grade Play

       The fifth grade play is only fifth grade and the play is called the Princess and the Pea. It is about a prince who tries to find a wife. But the queen objects and makes all these tests to make sure the princess is right for the prince. There are funny moments in the play where the jester tries to make jokes but is really bad at it. Also Gillian is a character who is a little crazy. She is very giddy and funny. Then there is shy Hannah who starts as a shy girl who helps around the castle. Then she ends up being the princess. If you are asking how? Well you are just going to have to see the play to find out.

    The Princess and the Pea really gets your attention in humorous ways and dramatic ways to. Also the play is a love story but is kind of awkward about how it works out. The play is going to be fun so I can’t wait to see you there.

Ski Trip

Ski Trip!

    On the Hidden Valley ski trip, we learned how to ski. We got our boots and skis. After we finished our ski school, we got to go do whatever we wanted to, like go on the rope tow, or the ski lift, and you could go anywhere on the mountain.

At 12 o’clock, we all headed in and ate lunch. We got a piece of pizza, some carrots and a drink. Then we all got free ski!!!!! At free ski people went on green slopes and blue slope and black diamonds. Greens were all the people who chose the rope tow could use at the time.

At 2 o'clock, Mr. Hutson held up a sign that said Glenridge Panthers, which meant that most of us had to leave. We returned our boots and skis. We were so upset! We got our stuff from the lockers and hopped on the bus.

The Fifth Grade Ski Trip

    Every year the fifth graders take a skiing trip to Hidden Valley. We leave at 8:15 am and get back at 3:00. There is two types of skiing you can sign up for, type 1 or type 2. Type 1 is beginners and type 2 means you have experience. If you are a type 2 skier, you can buy a ski lift ticket where you can ride on a ski lift and go down harder slopes. Before you can ski wherever you want, you have to go through ski school. You learn how to stop and go, put on your skiis, turn, get back up when you fall down, and then you just practice skiing. When you finish ski school you can ski wherever you want. Some people are snowboarding, but when you go on the ski trip you can only ski, and you can’t use poles. There is a rope tow that you can use if you are a type 1 skier to get up the hill. It is a moving rope that you grab onto that moves you. For some kids it is very hard and for others it is fun and easy.

    Every kid loves the ski trip. It is a fun field trip that is probably everyone’s favorite. Everybody I know wanted to go back again.

Curiosity Cafe

Curiosity Cafe is a time in our school day where we take a topic that we enjoy and we extend our learning of it. The time when we have Curiosity Cafe is right after Social Studies. We have it for about 20 minutes almost every day. I like to think about this time as a reward because if you forget to do your homework or bring your homework in that day, you have to do it at that time. Some people enjoy art and so each week we have a squiggle drawing and if you choose to do this station, you try to add the squiggle or extend your drawing to include the squiggle.  This can be challenging.  Another thing kids really enjoy is the IQ puzzles which are sort of like brain twisters because they get you to really think about what you are doing. I really enjoy all our options and I think others do too. We started this before winter break so our class is finding lots of new things they had never even known.   

Christmas

I opened my eyes and I looked at the clock. It was 5:00 AM December 25th, 2013. I did a big leap out of my bed, woke up my sister, and did a cartwheel into my parents bedroom. I woke up my parents and said lets open presents. My mom picked up her phone it said 5:00 AM. At 5:10 we went to the living room.
  Under the tree were lots of wrapped things. My sister and I had so much fun opening presents and spending time with our family! My favorite thing that I got was a Ballet barre. I had so much fun I loved watching my parents open up there gifts I got them. I am ready for Christmas to come again!

Castle Waiting

Do you like graphic novels? And do you like fairy tails?    If so Castle Waiting is the series for you! Castle Waiting, by Linda Medley, is a great book with many stories. There are two books in the series: the first one has four stories in one BIG story and the second book has four stories also, but one of them is in bits as you read the book.
